Episode 265. The Invitation to a Finished Work with Lisa Allen
Rebecca and Lisa Allen discuss Chapter 6 of Do the Thing: Gospel-Centered Goals, Gumption, and Grace for the Go-Getter Girl titled The Invitation to a Finished Work.
Lisa Allen a speaker and a coach with over 20 years experience both with a national women’s ministry and on a large church staff. She’s aso a wife and mom to two adult kids who are her very favorite people to do life with. Her passion is this: to help others better understand their wiring and ultimately gain confidence and clarity on who they are in Christ, in order to aim their lives for greatest impact and purpose.
Sometimes this looks like speaking at conferences and events. Other times, it means she spends a few days with a small group at their team offsite, helping them build trust and learn to work together better. Most days, she’s seated in a cozy corner of a coffee shop or on a zoom link face to face with women who are using coaching to gain direction and live a sustainably paced life. Her two combined decades of experience as both an Executive Director of a national non-profit along with the experience of being on a large church staff allows her to apply a multi-dimensional approach to understanding women in the corporate world, ministry realm and entrepreneurial space.
Rebecca and Lisa discussed:
How Ruth had to lay down her own selfish desires to be faithful and how her life encourages us to make kingdom-minded decisions
In the wake of a season where God may be asking you to lay something down or "quit" a particular assignment, how does Jesus "getting away from the noise" and getting alone with the Father encourage us
Macroquitting and Microquitting (and the shame that can be associated with laying down an assignment)
“Efficient inefficiency" - where we've become so fast at "doing something we've always done" that it feels like more work to change our process than to continue a process/task that isn't really working for us
As we take faithful next steps in our calling, there are some people I believe we need along the way (Lisa and Rebecca chat about how these different friends are helpful in their own callings)
Being a “multi-passionate” creative
